Writing from the heart:

If you’d asked me some months ago about writing, I’d answered something like “I cannot write nor share my thoughts.” But, if you ask me now, I’m able to tell you that I’ve done it enough times to transmit what I want to. Frankly, I consider that each person can do it because all of us possess experiences to share. I’ve uncovered it is quite enjoyable and even a little liberating to write. At times, my mind becomes perplexed when I encounter a dearth of inspiration for writing, however, my mind is getting used to it. In this blog entry, I want to tell you about pros that writing has brought to my life; also, I’ll talk about why writing is wonderful; and finally, I’ll give you my opinion about writing in Guatemala.

When I commenced to study English I didn’t have idea about how hard it could be, allow me to clarify that I was terrified, and the fact that someone read my writings was unthinkable. Undoubtedly, one of the perks that writing has left me is learning how to apply punctuations marks properly; moreover, how to utilize assertive language and additionally, enhancing your critical thinking. Among other things. I’ve mentioned these three aspects because of they’ve been the ones I use the most. It is something that no one is able to take away from me.

The act of expressing more profoundly on paper or sharing them in some special place to other people who are able to feel identified, or just because you had the desire to write for yourself. It is what makes writing vibrant and at the same time makes it breaks your head with several ideas. I admire that people who have written books, specially books with true personal stories about their lives, which is delicate because you expose yourself to being criticized by a difficult audience. The beauty here’s that you can make writing art to express yourself, and why not to encourage people who’d liked to do the same as you.

So, what happens with writing in Guatemala? Nothing happens. Guatemala as a third-world country that doesn’t have that kind of culture. We haven’t had the privilege to take advantage of those master minds, because our system is completely a trash bin to keep us inside a box of ignorance. I know about people who are quite talented to be writers. But, Guatemalan’s people don’t care about this. I know, to develop properly your cognitive skills, we require basic resources such as: adequate food, quality education and access to basic services that will help us with our development. I am sure that Guatemala would be recognized as a country full of talented writers if only we undertook a fight to change our thinking in order to change our system. In this way we could have more than a few recognized writers such as Miguel Angel Asturias.

To conclude, I enjoy writing, it has been comfortable practice to express my feelings and put in practice what I’ve learned. I hope to be able to encourage people through sharing my experiences in writing. Many people possess enough talent to become writers and find out about the wonders of the art of writing.
